"The hosts (Barb & Mike) are very welcoming and supportive. They suggested us lots of things to do in the area. You can rent kayaks with them, which is awesome. The lake is really close to the B&B, so you can do a short dip in the lake at any time. The Boathouse is very spacious, cosy and very well equipped. There is everything you need - even an electric blanket in the bed! The breakfast, which is brought to the room, was also delicious. I especially liked that right after my arrival I could spontaneously borrow a kayak and go on a tour. Highly recommended! And the transport to Tongariro Alpine Crossing also worked great. "We loved our stay at Barb’s Lodge. Though only a short stay we saw the beautiful scenery locally and there were some amazing walks and hikes within a 10-20 minute drive. The lake is literally a 30 second walk from the Lodge and is so peaceful. Barb’s place has everything you need for a relaxing stay - we suggest heading to the supermarket prior to arrival as the closest supermarket is a 20minute drive away and you won’t want to leave Barb’s place once you arrive (and don’t need to!) The fireplace and outdoor heating make it suitable to holiday all year round. Next time we will book for longer! Thanks Barb!"

"The Lodge is located a stone's throw from the lake. You can hear the waves at night. It is beautifully sheltered with a great sunny outdoor living space. If a little cooler in the evening, overhead outdoor heaters ensure you are warm. We dined outside each evening. The interior is a simple but a very workable layout. It is tasteful yet not precious, great if holidaying with small folk as we were. The vibe is definitely one of relaxation. The holiday feel is real!! If you have a boat, being able to park up on the section makes boating super easy. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed linen crisp. The hosts are lovely people, very helpful, good communicators and you get to deal directly with them. We would highly recommend The Lodge and hope to return again. The Lodge."
